Do you try to ignore the negative and praise the positive?
Parents usually use negative consequences (yelling, punishment, etc.) first, but often, that doesn’t work and can hurt our deep bond with our child.
Instead, try ignoring some behavior you don’t want and praising behavior that you do want.
This doesn’t mean there are no consequences for poor behavior (especially behavior that is harmful to themselves or someone else). But, poor behavior is often best ignored.
